"The Mediations of Police Power in Prewar Japan," lecture by Max Ward
This lecture is part of the Center for East Asian Studies Fall Semester Lectures program.
Max Ward, a Middlebury College historian, focuses on the historical specificity of wartime Japan. He will be speaking on his latest research project, exploring the conceptual, institutional and representational transformations of police at important junctures in prewar Japanese history. Dr. Ward teaches Japanese and East Asian history, with special emphasis on social, cultural and critical theory. He received his PhD from New York University in 2011 and his BA from the University of California, Berkeley in 1999.
UW-Madison History Professor Viren Murthy will moderate the lecture.
