Community Responses to Cannabis Legalization
The Great Lakes A/MH/PTTC is offering this training for individuals working in HHS Region 5: IL, IN, MI, MN, OH, WI. This training is being provided in response to a need identified by Region 5 stakeholders.

DESCRIPTION:
This presentation is Part 1 of a two-part series on community responses to cannabis legislation.
Half of the U.S. population now live in states where medical or recreational marijuana use is legally allowed. But as marijuana is becoming more widely available, many communities are struggling to ensure that people use the drug responsibly—and that it stays out of the hands of minors. The presenter will discuss what effective youth prevention programs could look like at a time when cannabis is becoming more mainstream.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
• Describe how legalization can affect the use of marijuana by minors
• Discuss how existing public health programs can inform prevention
• List community strategies to prevent minor use of legalized marijuana
